Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is looking for Head Start Student Workers to support early childhood classrooms in West Grove, PA. As a student worker, you will assist teachers with basic skills instruction, provide direct support to students, and engage in physical duties related to childcare.

This role is ideal for motivated high school students eager to make a positive impact. The position offers flexible hours on weekdays with a pay rate of $14.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be a current high school student with a valid work permit.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
• Clearances required: Police, Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint (if 18+).

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing basic skills as directed by the teacher.
• Provide 1:1 and small group instruction.
• Assist with toileting and other basic care.
• Physically engage in supporting young children.

Summary

The student workers support our early childhood classrooms by assisting with basic skills instruction under teacher direction. They provide one-on-one and small group support, help with toileting and basic care, and engage in active physical duties, including assisting and repositioning young children (infants to age five).

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting in the implementation of basic skills as directed by the classroom teacher
• Performing duties as directed by the teacher
• Duties may include 1:1 instruction and small group instruction
• Toileting and other basic care
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, stand, and walk
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. May include positioning of students with physical disabilities. The weight and ability of students requiring assistance may vary greatly, all students are infants - 5 years old.

Qualifications

• Must be Current High School Student w/ Valid Work Permit
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Schedule

• Weekdays: Monday-Friday
• Flexible Hours: May include 7 AM-9 AM, 3 PM-5:30 PM
