Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit in Coatesville, PA, seeks part-time Instructional Assistants for the 2026-2027 school year in Student Services. Positions are benefits-eligible and schedule is 8 AM–3 PM, Monday–Friday, 186 days per year.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; associates degree or 48 credits preferred; experience with special needs and required clearances. Includes hourly pay scale and strong support staff benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or higher OR completion of two years of post-secondary education OR 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Current police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances required.
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of a basic skills program or educational programming and perform duties as directed by the educational consultant or classroom teacher.
• Duties may include individual tutoring or one-on-one support for a student with special needs. Some lifting may be required.
• Work independently and as a member of a team in an educational setting.
• Physical intervention with students in crisis will be required.

At the present time, three vacancies exist for part‑time Instructional Assistants for the 2026‑2027 school year within the Student Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit, located in Coatesville, PA. Positions are benefits-eligible.

Hourly Rate (2026-2027 School Year)

• 0‑9 years experience: $19.38
• 10‑13 years experience: $21.29
• 14‑17 years experience: $23.19
• 18‑25 years experience: $25.11
• *Bachelor's degree is equivalent to 9 years experience on the scale: $19.38
• *Master's degree is equivalent to 15 years experience on the scale: $23.19
