Job summary

Community Action Pioneer Valley, Inc. seeks a Site Director/Lead Teacher to oversee a center with one classroom, ensuring licensing, safety, and quality standards across Head Start and EEC regulations.

With guidance from the Education Manager and program specialists, you will mentor education staff, collaborate with the Family Advocate, and support school readiness goals while ensuring health and safety compliance at the site.

Qualifications

• Lead Teacher and Director I certification required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in an appropriate early childhood setting.
• At least 1 year supervisory experience.
• Alternate credential: Associate Degree with pursuit of BA in progress, plus 4+ years experience in early childhood and EEC Lead Teacher/Director 1 certified.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate commitment to quality early care and education with diverse families.
• Maintain CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification.
• Understand typical and atypical child development (0-5).
• Maintain knowledge of Head Start Standards and EEC Regulations.
• Coordinate with Education Manager to maintain licensing.
• Ensure appropriate supervision of children and implement HSELP protocols.
• Ensure healthy and safe environments for young children.
• Complete and post weekly curriculum, anecdotes, assessments, home visits, and family conferences.
• Engage families to set school readiness goals and track IGSS progress.
• Collaborate with Family Advocate for integrated education and family services.
• Conduct developmental and behavioral screenings within 45 days of enrollment.
• Oversee site maintenance and safety checks.
• Fill in as bus monitor as needed and conduct daily safety inspections.
• Cover for other classrooms as needed.
• Attend program workshops and meetings.
