Job summary

The Y of Central Maryland invites applications for a Head Start Resource Aide to support classroom teachers and help ensure the well‑being, safety and learning progress of young children. You will assist with routines, supervision, and individualized plans as needed.

You will contribute to a developmentally appropriate environment, foster social and emotional growth, and collaborate with families and staff to promote school readiness for economically disadvantaged children.

Qualifications

• Interest in the well-being and education of young children.
• Some prior experience working with special needs children.
• Ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates.
• Obtained your 90 hour child care certification or a willingness to do so upon hire.
• A high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers with instruction and routines.
• Support health, welfare, and safety of children in the program.
• Contribute to social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development.
• Help manage classroom schedules, transitions and activities.
