Job summary

Education Jobs NJ is seeking a lead preschool teacher to supervise and coordinate an assigned classroom in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and New Jersey licensing requirements. You will plan curriculum-based activities, monitor child development, and collaborate with families and staff to support each child’s growth.

The role requires a bachelor's or higher in early childhood education, NJ P-3 certification, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in early childhood education.
• Must meet NJ/PA licensing requirements.
• Must have New Jersey's P-3 certification: CE, CEA, or Standard Cert.
• Must have a car available daily.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children.
• Observe, assess, and document each child's growth and plan activities accordingly.
• Ensure services to children with special needs are provided in the center.
• Maintain safety procedures, report accidents and health concerns to supervisor.
• Prepare and maintain classroom records and monthly reports as requested.
• Plan home-based activities and involve parents, including monthly parent conferences.
• Visit homes at least twice per program year and conduct two parent/teacher conferences.
• Attend training sessions and assist with admin duties as delegated by management.
• Perform any other Head Start tasks as delegated by management.
