Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking a dedicated Preschool Teacher for our Early Childhood Impact program in Oakland. You will create warm, developmentally appropriate classrooms, plan engaging activities, and assess children to support individualized instruction.

You will collaborate with families, align with Head Start standards, and maintain a safe, inclusive environment. This full-time, on-site role includes ongoing training and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must communicate in English with proficiency; bilingual or multi-lingual preferred
• 2 years of experience as a classroom teacher in Early Childhood Programs, preferably state-subsidized or Head Start setting
• Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement written curriculum goals aligned with Creative Curriculum and Head Start outcomes
• Plan and facilitate learning activities for individuals and groups
• Supervise and ensure safety of children at all times
• Document progress using observation notes, work samples, and assessments
• Conduct two home visits and two parent/teacher conferences annually
• Maintain organized classroom and learning environments reflecting cultural diversity
• Build partnerships with families for ongoing communication and progress

AA degree or higher (Head Start)

Current Child Development permit – Associate Teacher level or above

12+ semester units in Early Childhood Education
