Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support the Head Start Teacher in a preschool learning environment. You will assist with lesson planning, maintain a clean, nurturing classroom, and help promote school readiness and social-emotional development.

The role emphasizes collaboration with families, adherence to Head Start guidelines, and participation in trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CDA credential or Associate degree preferred.
• Experience with preschool children in an early childhood setting preferred.
• Ability to follow Head Start guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher in planning and implementing lesson plans aligning with Head Start.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities and play-based learning.
• Observe and assess child development; contribute to individualized learning plans.
• Model positive social-emotional behaviors and problem-solving.
• Supervise children for safety; maintain organized classroom.
• Assist with daily routines: meals, naptime, transitions.
• Follow Head Start health and safety policies; proper hygiene and sanitation.
