Job summary

Child Development is seeking a dedicated cook to manage the kitchen and meal service for our Head Start center. You will supervise and train the assistant cook, ensure meals adhere to standardized recipes, and maintain a safe, sanitary kitchen environment.

The role requires basic nutrition knowledge, English language proficiency, and at least one year of paid quantity cooking experience (school setting preferred). Strong organization and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year paid quantity cooking experience (school setting preferred).
• Knowledge of basic nutrition. Ability to effectively speak, read, and write English and do simple arithmetic.
• Ability to supervise and provide leadership to assistant cooks.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen and meal service for the assigned Head Start center.
• Supervise, train, orient, and conduct performance evaluations of the assistant cook.
• Prepare meals using standardized recipes for children.
• Maintain safe and sanitary kitchen and dining areas.
• Plan food purchases within budget and place orders with vendors and central office.
