Job summary

Grand St Settlement Inc. in the Bronx is hiring an Assistant Teacher to support a 15-20 child classroom under the Lead Teacher. You will help implement the curriculum, monitor progress, and collaborate with families to support outcomes for all children.

The position is in a two-year startup phase with evolving duties as sites come online. We require an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education (BA/BS preferred) and at least two years of teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Associates in Early Childhood Education required; BA/BS preferred.
• Minimum two years of teaching experience.
• Ability to work with children and families with diverse needs.
• Ability to maintain written records and manage time.
• Ability to foster positive relationships with families.
• Basic computer literacy (email, MS Office).
• CPR and First Aid certification within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in implementing a child-centered curriculum.
• Collaborate in daily lesson planning and observations.
• Provide positive guidance and support readiness skills.
• Engage families through conferences and home visits.
• Maintain documentation and coordinate with coordinators.
• Assist with inventory and supplies as needed.
• Participate in coaching and professional development.
