Job summary

Grand St Settlement Inc. in Brooklyn seeks a Head Start Group Teacher to co-lead an integrated preschool classroom serving up to 20 children aged 3 to 5.

You will collaborate with a second lead teacher and family members to implement curriculum and support diverse learning needs. The role requires NYS Early Childhood Education certification (Birth-2) or (N-2) preferred, a BA/BS in ECE or related field with relevant credits, and basic computer literacy.

Qualifications

• New York State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-2) or (N-2) preferred.
• BA/BS in Early Childhood Education - MA/MS in Early Childhood Education preferred – OR- BA/BS in related fields with at least eighteen credits in Early Childhood Education plus experience teaching preschool aged children.
• Basic computer literacy in email, word processing and internet navigation.

Responsibilities

• Child Growth & Development: apply knowledge of child development to work with children and communicate with stakeholders.
• Planning: develop individual plans for each child based on identified needs and assessments.
• Program Implementation: implement daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum and children's interests.
• Family Partnerships: build positive relationships with families to support child outcomes.
• Communication and Service Coordination: share information and coordinate services with Family Advocate.
• Record Keeping and Reporting: maintain classroom data for ongoing assessment and planning.
• On-going Monitoring and Self-assessment: analyze outcomes and adjust curriculum; conduct parent conferences and screenings as needed.
