Job summary

Grand Street Settlement in Bronx, NY is seeking a Head Start Group Teacher to co-teach a preschool classroom for children aged 3 to 5. The team operates a 20-child classroom with collaborative planning and curriculum implementation.

The role is part of the Early Childhood Services department and includes adapting to start-up needs during the initial phase. The ideal candidate holds NYS Early Childhood Education certification, a BA/BS in ECE (MA/MS preferred) or related field with sufficient ECE

Qualifications

• New York State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education
• BA/BS in Early Childhood Education; MA/MS preferred or related field with 18 ECE credits and preschool teaching experience
• Basic computer literacy including email, word processing and internet navigation
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement daily lesson plans and activities for a class of up to 20 preschool children
• Collaborate with a co-teacher and families to implement curriculum and achieve child outcomes
• Evaluate child growth and development, communicate with families and take part in ongoing assessments
• Maintain classroom records, participate in conferences and coordinate with education staff
