Job summary

Hill Country Community Action Association, Inc. seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support early childhood education in a 10.5-month role.

You will assist with lesson plans, supervise children, conduct center activities, and help maintain a safe, nurturing classroom in partnership with the Director and Teacher. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, experience with preschool children, reliable transportation, CPR/First Aid certs, and a commitment to ongoing professional

Qualifications

Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
Some experience and ability to work with pre-school children.
Must be willing to accept supervision to improve work performance.
Must have a valid Class C driver's license and a reliable vehicle; CPR and First Aid certifications; confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Develop, write, and conduct a planned lesson at least once a month.
Prepare and conduct at least one center activity daily (circle time, science, home, etc.).
Collaborate with Center Director and Classroom Teacher to maintain a calm, safe classroom.
Ensure routines are prompt and hygienic, aligning with child development principles.
Assist with meals and ensure family-style dining; participate at table with children.
Maintain safety through supervision and proper equipment handling; conduct fire drills.
Maintain documentation in children's files and complete Individual Development Plans.
Observe and report child behavior; share information with staff.
Attend staff meetings and trainings; pursue CDA credential after probation (90 days).
