Job summary

Save the Children is seeking a Center Director/Lead Teacher to manage day-to-day operations of a Head Start center or cluster in Tennessee. The role ensures regulatory compliance, oversees budgets and staff, and maintains strong communication with families and the community.

The position emphasizes safety, quality instruction, and adherence to Head Start Performance Standards, with potential reassignment to multiple centers as operations require.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood development or related field with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Experience implementing and monitoring Head Start program operations.
• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and best practices in early childhood education.
• Experience with budgets, accounts payable, inventory, and risk management.
• Strong English communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Hire and coach staff; facilitate conflict resolution; develop center schedules and staff development opportunities.
• Oversee staff budgeting, compliance with Head Start standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct staff meetings, arrange trainings, set goals, and monitor performance improvements.
• Coordinate pre-service and ongoing in-service for cooks, teachers, and aides with managers and coordinators.
• Track staff attendance and verify timesheets.
• Plan Family Days, monthly parent meetings, and Family Nights with Family Service Coordinators.
