Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is hiring a Head Start Assistant Teacher to support classroom teachers, center administration and family advocates in delivering curriculum and achieving outcomes for diverse children.

You will contribute to a safe, nurturing environment and ensure regulatory compliance while promoting the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development of each child in care. This is a mission-driven role with a focus on serving economically disadvantaged families.

Qualifications

• Child Development Associate certification is required.
• 90 hour child care certification is required.
• 9 hours in communication is required.
• Some prior early childhood experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, center administration and family advocates to implement curriculum and achieve outcomes for diverse children.
• Ensure safety, supervision and regulatory compliance across classrooms.
• Support development across social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative domains of each child.
• Help prepare economically disadvantaged children for school success.
