Job summary

The Y of Central Maryland is seeking a Substitute Teacher for Head Start to support classroom operation across locations. You will assist the lead teacher and help ensure the safety and well-being of young children in a nurturing learning environment.

Ideal candidates have a passion for early childhood education, excellent communication, and a relevant certificate or degree (90 Hour Child Care Certificate or AA in Early Childhood Education).

Qualifications

• Interest in the well-being and education of young children with patience and good humor.
• Prior early childhood experience (infant and toddler).
• Ability to clearly communicate and listen to children, parents, members, and staff.
• Must have a 90 Hour Child Care Certificate or an AA in Early Childhood Education.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to ensure smooth operation of the Head Start classroom.
• Be called upon as needed and work at various Head Start locations.
• Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children in care.
• Contribute to a developmentally appropriate environment for social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative growth.
