Job summary

North Coast Opportunities, Inc. in Clearlake, CA, seeks an Assistant Teacher I for the Head Start program to support planning and implementing curriculum and to help children prepare for school readiness.

You will assist the Lead Teacher, care for preschoolers, engage families, and participate in meetings, DRDP data collection, and classroom organization while upholding health, safety, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Must complete 3 core ECE/CDV units within 12 months (Level I).
• Level II requires 6 ECE/CDV core units (growth, development, family relation).
• CPR/First Aid certification or on-track to complete within 3 months.
• Experience with children with special needs preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in planning and implementing Head Start curriculum.
• Support children’s school readiness and care for preschoolers.
• Collect data for DRDP assessments and organize classroom materials.
• Maintain health, safety, and confidentiality; communicate with families.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and daily cleaning and setup.
