Job summary

North Coast’s Head Start Child Development Program seeks Substitute Assistant Teachers for the 2026-2027 year. Location includes Ukiah, CA with sites in Willits, Clearlake, Upper Lake, and Lakeport. Up to 40 hours weekly, two days per week minimum, with hourly wages of $18.50–$19.81.

Responsibilities include assisting Lead Teacher with curriculum, child readiness, family communication, and data collection for DRDP assessments, while ensuring health and safety and participating in trainings.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience criteria include Level I or Level II ECE/CD core units.
• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of early childhood classroom experience preferred (Level-II).
• CPR/First Aid certification or training completed within 3 months if Level I; Level II preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in planning and implementing Head Start curriculum.
• Support children’s school readiness and care of preschoolers.
• Communicate with families regarding child development and needs.
• Assist in data collection for DRDP assessments.
• Organize classroom materials and environment for activities.
• Help with record keeping and reporting for the education component.
• Collaborate with staff in planning and implementing activities.
• Provide individual assistance to assigned children and facilitate small group activities.
• Attend required meetings, trainings, and conferences.
