Job summary

Hiring Winners is seeking a results-driven Used Car Director in Austin, TX to lead the used vehicle department, overseeing acquisition, appraisal, inventory management, merchandising, pricing, and reconditioning oversight. This role focuses on maximizing inventory turn, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will manage a team, develop sourcing strategies, and coordinate with finance, service, and marketing to meet dealership goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive automotive sales management experience, including leadership of a used vehicle department.
• Experience with vehicle acquisition, appraisal, inventory management, and market analysis.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee daily operations of the used vehicle department.
• Develop inventory acquisition strategies through trades, auctions, direct purchases, and other sourcing channels.
• Evaluate and approve vehicle appraisals.
• Monitor inventory aging and establish pricing strategies to maximize profitability and inventory turn.
• Coordinate vehicle reconditioning to ensure timely availability for sale.
• Analyze market trends and competitive pricing.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop department managers and sales staff.
• Monitor departmental performance and implement action plans to achieve sales and profit objectives.
• Ensure accurate inventory records and merchandising standards.
• Collaborate with finance, service, and marketing teams to support dealership goals.
• Maintain compliance with dealership policies and applicable regulations.
• Lead regular department meetings and performance reviews.
