Job summary

The Class by Taryn Toomey in New York City is seeking a Director of Teacher Experience to lead talent relations, operations, and professional opportunities across studios, digital, events, and partnerships.

You will partner with the CEO and CXO to build a scalable teacher lifecycle, nurture wellbeing, and drive a high-performing community while balancing individual needs with business priorities. This is a hybrid NYC role with bi-annual LA travel.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience working with talent, instructors, or creative performers.
• Direct experience as a people manager, including coaching managers and handling complex employee-relations issues with discretion.
• Track record of building talent systems: recruiting and auditions, onboarding, performance reviews, and retention programs.
• Operational fluency with scheduling, payroll inputs, policy, and compliance for a part-time or hourly workforce.
• Comfort with data: read performance and engagement metrics and turn them into decisions.
• Experience supporting talent on set or on camera for content, marketing, or partnerships is a strong plus.
• Personal connection to The Class and appreciation of holding space for students.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all teacher talent relations, operations, and professional opportunities.
• Build systems, schedules, and standards for a part-time roster across studios, digital, events and partnerships.
• Partner with CEO and CXO to manage a teacher talent pipeline and long-term talent strategy, including sourcing, auditions, and selection criteria.
• Lead teacher operations, including policy development, scheduling, payroll oversight (hours, PTO, and expenses), and performance management.
• Coach and mentor the Teacher Operations Manager; ensure inclusive, high-performing workplace.
• Track teacher performance and engagement data and translate into actionable recommendations for schedules and development.
