Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Manager, Reliability Engineering for Transportation and Delivery Fulfillment in the United States. You will lead a global team responsible for 24x7 reliability of supply chain systems moving freight to stores and distribution centers, with on-call escalation and senior stakeholder updates.

You’ll partner with product, engineering, and operations to define CUJs, set SLOs, and drive automation, observability, and AI-driven improvements across complex platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience leading combined software engineering and day-to-day operational work with accountability for application development, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Experience managing globally distributed engineering teams, including onshore and offshore resources.
• Own 24x7 on-call, incident response, and escalation processes for critical systems.
• Experience establishing problem management practices focused on root cause analysis and continuous service improvement.
• Experience implementing automation and AI-driven solutions to reduce manual operational effort.
• Experience supporting supply chain, transportation, fulfillment, logistics, or customer delivery platforms.
• Strong executive communication skills to translate tech issues into business impact, risk, and recovery plans.
• Experience defining and managing SLIs/SLOs and service performance metrics.
• Proven ability to recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering talent.
• Experience developing tech roadmaps, quarterly planning, and aligning priorities with business objectives.
• Experience managing engineering capacity, cloud use, and budgets in cost-conscious environments.
• Experience overseeing CI/CD pipelines, release management, and change governance.
• Experience driving resiliency, disaster recovery readiness, capacity planning, and performance optimization for high-volume platforms.
• Knowledge of observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic, or Elastic.
• Experience operating cloud-native apps on GCP or Azure, including Kubernetes.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Experience supporting hybrid environments with cloud, on-prem, and vendor-supported apps.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or Bash.
• Experience collaborating with security/compliance teams (PCI-DSS, SOC 2) and IAM/security best practices.

Responsibilities

• 30% Delivery & Execution: Collaborates with product teams to deliver secure, reliable software.
• Documents and ensures quality and change standards are met.
• Automates infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases via code.
• Work with vendors for critical tooling implementations and platform adoption.
• Create dashboards, logs, alerts, and proactive responses to issues.
• Contributes to enterprise tooling for automation and resilience testing.
• Leads reviews to drive consistency across the enterprise.
• Fills in for engineers when needed.
