Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) seeks a Speech and Hearing Program Director to lead Speech Therapy Services at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. You will oversee clinical quality, mentor clinicians, and promote innovative, person-centered programs to enrich residents' communication and independence.

Licensed SLP and Audiologist with four years of professional diagnostic and treatment experience are required. Salary range: $82,857–$136,714.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating and treating speech, language, and hearing disorders in adults and/or children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including work with augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC).
• Experience supervising professional staff, conducting evaluations, and coordinating integrated treatment plans.
• Demonstrated success collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (medical, nursing, OT, PT, special education).
• Proven experience managing communication and swallowing disorders and understanding their impact on health and safety.
• Uses Clinical outcomes, quality metrics, and feedback to guide program improvements.

Responsibilities

• As the Director of Speech Therapy Services, you’ll lead a dedicated team of speech-language pathologists and a symbol board technician, set departmental goals, and ensure that residents receive exceptional speech, language, and communication services.
