Hanwha Qcells is establishing its first U.S.-based Space Photovoltaic Systems R&D organization in Atlanta, co-located with GTRI. The Senior Director will own the technical roadmap, people, budgets, and partnerships, and will be a key voice in the Global Technology Group.

The role requires 10+ years of leadership in aerospace or high-reliability hardware, with hands-on R&D in electrical and mechanical domains.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
• 10+ years of progressive R&D and engineering leadership in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability hardware.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary hardware R&D organizations across electrical and mechanical domains.
• Proven success leading government-funded R&D programs (NASA, DOD, or equivalents).
• Excellent communication with executives, government customers, and academic partners.

Responsabilités

• Build and lead the U.S.-based Space PV Systems R&D organization, recruiting and developing engineers and establishing facilities.
• Own the team’s operating budget, capex plan, and headcount; report to the CTO.
• Represent the U.S. team within the global Space Solar Development organization and align priorities with international teams.
• Set system-level architecture for PV modules and drive development from bench to qualification hardware.
• Lead government proposals and manage relationships with NASA, DOD, DOE, and U.S. partners.
