Hanwha Q CELLS Technologies, Inc. in Atlanta partners with Georgia Tech to create a Space Photovoltaic Systems R&D team. You will own the mechanical architecture for perovskite-silicon tandem cells, from substrate selection through bonding, testing, and reliability predictions for long-life space missions.

The role demands hands-on hardware sense, leadership as a principal contributor, and collaboration with partners to ensure robust performance in launch and orbit environments.

Competenze

• MS or PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science, or aerospace engineering; PhD preferred for Staff placement.
• 10+ years of hands-on hardware R&D in aerospace/defense/advanced electronics or photovoltaics with ownership of major mechanical design decisions.
• Proven technical leadership as an individual contributor and mechanical authority for a program.

Mansioni

• Define and own substrate and panel mechanical architecture including materials like CFRP honeycomb, polyimide or fabric structures.
• Design and own the cell bonding system; specify bonding criteria and lead trade studies across bonding approaches.
• Perform and own structural analysis for launch environments; conduct FEA and validate with test data.
• Lead hardware build, environmental test campaigns, and failure analysis for mechanical anomalies.
• Lead radiation materials characterization programs for irradiated materials and translate findings into qualification criteria.
