Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking a Lead School Security Officer to support the Safety and Security Coordinator and the school principal in safeguarding students and property. You will respond to incidents, deter trespassers, and help audit local security procedures including the emergency plan.

You will coordinate SSO activities, supervise staff, and serve as the liaison with law enforcement and fire safety officials, representing the school when needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding student safety and conduct; ability to enforce those regulations.
• Ability to relate to, communicate with, and supervise young adults to maintain relationships with parents and the public.
• Ability to supervise and assist in implementing intervention programs for students displaying socially unacceptable behavior.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, and to prepare clear and comprehensive reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in scheduling, planning and supervising the work of other SSOs.
• Coordinate activities of SSOs within the school.
• Serve as primary safety and security point of contact within the school.
• Liaise between school administration and first responders.
• Oversee campus safety, parking and bus regulations; report accidents on school grounds.
