Job summary

Winchester Public Schools is seeking a School Safety Officer to provide a visible safety presence inside and outside the school. Under the direction of the Superintendent and Director of School Safety and Security, the SSO will monitor, patrol, and respond to safety concerns to protect students and staff.

The role requires prior security experience, CPR/First Aid, background check, and a valid CT license; bilingual skills are valued.

Qualifications

CPR and First Aid certifications required or ability to obtain prior to hiring.
Background investigation required.
Valid Connecticut Driver's License.

Responsibilities

Maintain safety and security of school buildings, grounds and facilities.
Patrol campus perimeter, lunch areas, hallways, classrooms, parking lots and bus stops.
Escort students to the office for action as needed.
Report incidents and observations to appropriate authorities.
Operate CCTV security cameras and Visitor Management System.
Build relationships with students.
Attend staff trainings and professional development day.
Assist visitors and monitor for suspicious individuals.
Enforce school rules and policies for safety of students and staff.
Work with law enforcement on violations.
