Job summary

Harvey is looking for a founding Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy to build the function from scratch. You will engage with policymakers, regulators, and institutions worldwide, shaping Harvey's stance on AI governance and the future of legal services.

Lead a growing team and ensure policy decisions align with product strategy while advancing access to justice. You will report to the Chief Strategy Officer and operate at senior levels across federal, state, and international

Qualifications

• Progressive depth in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory work.
• Policy-first orientation; educate policymakers, not just lobby.
• Demonstrated ability to build a function from scratch or expand scope.
• Deep relationships with senior government and regulatory stakeholders.
• Familiarity with the legal industry, judiciary, and AI policy.
• Bipartisan credibility and intellectual integrity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build Harvey's government affairs and public policy function; set strategy and framework.
• Own policy relationships with policymakers, regulators, and institutions globally.
• Develop Harvey's policy narrative on AI governance and access to justice.
• Maintain credibility and advocate positions aligned with Harvey's product strategy.
• Inform product and market strategy; surface regulatory requirements and opportunities.
• Build and lead a regional government affairs team; establish governance infrastructure.
