Job summary

Harvey is seeking a founding Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy to shape the company’s policy posture for AI in legal and professional services. You will own the strategy, engage with policymakers globally, and build a multidisciplinary team from the ground up.

You will bridge policy with product, ensuring regulatory alignment and ethical deployment while advancing access to justice. This is a high-impact leadership role at a rapidly growing, globally oriented company.

Qualifications

• Progressive depth in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory work.
• Policy-first orientation; educate policymakers, not just lobby.
• Ability to build a function and expand scope from a standing start.
• Deep, trusted relationships with senior policymakers across jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with the legal industry, judiciary, or regulatory environment around legal services and AI.
• Bipartisan credibility and intellectual integrity.
• Conviction about AI's role in improving legal services and access to justice.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication; can represent Harvey credibly.

Responsibilities

• Build Harvey's government affairs and public policy function with strategy and framework.
• Own policy relationships with policymakers, regulators, bar associations and authorities.
• Develop Harvey's policy narrative on AI governance and the legal profession.
• Maintain institutional credibility and advocate positions aligned with Harvey's interests.
• Inform product and market strategy where policy impacts apply.
• Build and lead regional government affairs teams and governance infrastructure.
