Job summary

McGough is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead Central Minnesota preconstruction and estimating functions from our Roseville headquarters. You will guide pursuits, shape cost plans, and ensure high-quality deliverables across the unit in alignment with company processes.

The role requires 15+ years in large-scale construction, leadership experience, and strong knowledge of MEP, constructability, and procurement strategies. Expect regular site visits and project collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field.
• 15+ years in general contracting, preconstruction, estimating, or PM on large, complex projects.
• Experience leading negotiated, CM at Risk, or design-build preconstruction from concept through GMP.
• Five+ years leading people or functions (staffing, coaching, performance, workload).
• Experience with estimates, budgets, cost models, contingencies, bid analysis, and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Pursuit Strategy and Business Development: select opportunities, plan teams, and shape preconstruction approach.
• Preconstruction Leadership: define roles, lead projects from pursuit to GMP, drive risk logs and milestones.
• Estimating and Cost Leadership: oversee concept through GMP estimates, cost models, and procurement.
• People Leadership: manage staffing, development, and accountability.
• Process Improvement: simplify workflows, track workload, and apply lessons learned.
• Other Duties: participate in leadership meetings and industry events.
