Job summary

Expo is seeking a hands-on Director of Infrastructure to scale core infrastructure across platform engineering, data pipelines, billing systems, fleet management, and multi-cloud environments. The leader will balance hands-on execution with strategic direction and mentor engineers to raise the technical bar.

The role requires setting direction while troubleshooting complex problems, participating in on-call rotations, and communicating plans across teams to accelerate delivery and reliability.

Qualifications

• Low-level depth in at least one core area (OS, cloud, or Kubernetes).
• Proven track record of hands-on infrastructure leadership.
• Experience managing Linux and macOS fleets and provisioning tooling.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute infrastructure strategy and roadmaps.
• Own platform infrastructure including fleets, provisioning, and security.
• Run data pipelines, billing and multi-cloud expansion plans.
• Lead reliability, on-call rotations, incident response and RCA framing.
• Contribute hands-on architecture, debugging, and operational improvements.
• Partner with engineering and product to translate business needs into infrastructure plans.
• Deliver elastic compute across clouds and regions to scale builds and CI.
