Job summary

Expedia Group is hiring a Principal Software Development Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operational excellence of our cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities. You will own strategy, architecture, and hands-on delivery across Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaC, and security for scalable, observable systems.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross-team initiatives, and collaborate with product, security, and operations to align technical solutions with business goals.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating distributed cloud services.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EKS, ECS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, ELB/ALB, Auto Scaling).
• Deep Kubernetes experience at scale (EKS or equivalent).
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and Helm charts.
• Proven production code contributions and platform automation in languages like Go, Python, Java.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy, roadmaps and standards for cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities.
• Lead migration and platform adoption efforts (Kubernetes/EKS) and drive end-to-end execution.
• Contribute code and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation/Helm) and review designs.
• Design scalable, secure infrastructure patterns for microservices and data stores.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and deployment practices.
• Drive SRE and observability practices: SLIs/SLOs, monitoring, incident response, post-mortems.
