Job summary

Optimum seeks a Manager of Infrastructure Platform Engineering to lead the strategy, engineering, and operations of a platform delivering compute, storage, containers, and infrastructure as a product to internal users. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field required
• Master's degree in a relevant discipline preferred
• Equivalent combination of education, advanced training, and directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure engineering
• 3+ years of people leadership experience managing software, platform, DevOps, or SRE teams
• Hands-on engineering depth in infrastructure-as-code tooling, including Terraform and Ansible
• Strong production experience operating Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and policy-as-code frameworks
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java for platform engineering
• Understanding of API design, event-driven architectures, and modern integration patterns
• Experience operating self-service portals, developer platforms, or service catalogs
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and hybrid cloud models
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and SRE practices
• Understanding of platform security practices including IAM, secrets, image supply chain, and policy enforcement
• Familiarity with telecom/cable/broadband/wireless environments preferred
• Experience supporting containerized network functions or cloud-native network infrastructure preferred
• Cloud/Kubernetes/Terraform/CKA-CKSD-CKS certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, roadmap, and engineering for an internal developer platform
• Establish and operate a platform-as-a-product model with SLAs and adoption metrics
• Define platform service catalog for provisioning and operation
• Develop infrastructure-as-code tooling and pipelines to automate lifecycle management
• Set coding standards, module ownership, and version control workflows
• Build and operate CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure code with automated testing
• Drive API-first, event-driven workflows to replace manual provisioning
• Lead Kubernetes and container orchestration platform evolution and lifecycle
• Manage cluster lifecycle, multi-cluster strategy, upgrades, and security baselines
• Support containerization of legacy workloads and cloud-native enablement
• Establish namespaces, ingress, service mesh, secrets, and image supply chain controls
• Develop self-service portals, APIs, and developer tooling for provisioning
• Define developer experience strategy including docs, onboarding, templates
• Drive platform adoption via engagement, training, and feedback loops
• Measure developer experience metrics like time-to-first-environment and lead time
• Reduce cognitive load by abstracting infrastructure complexity behind platform interfaces
• Set reliability and performance objectives and monitor against SLAs
• Lead observability, monitoring, and incident response for the platform
• Drive automation-first operations and runbook-as-code
• Oversee capacity planning, upgrade cycles, and lifecycle management
• Mentor and grow a team of platform engineers and DevOps staff
