Expo, Inc is seeking a hands-on Director of Infrastructure to lead and scale reliability, performance, and cost across platform engineering, data pipelines, billing systems, fleet management, and multi-cloud environments. The role blends strategic direction with close technical execution, including on-call rotations, incident response, and mentoring engineers to raise the team's technical bar.

Qualifications

• Ability to define and execute infrastructure strategy at scale.
• Experience owning macOS and Linux fleets and developer tooling.
• Strong track record in reliability, performance, and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

• Define infrastructure strategy and roadmaps to scale across platform engineering, data pipelines, billing, and fleet management.
• Own macOS/Linux fleets, developer infra, code review systems and provisioning; drive automation and observability.
• Run data pipelines and billing infra for reliability, scalability and operational resilience.
• Scale fleet management and multi-cloud expansion; align capacity with growth plans.
• Lead on-call rotations, incident response, and direct technical problem solving.
• Contribute hands-on depth in architecture, implementation, and debugging with the team.
• Partner with engineering and product to communicate strategy, tradeoffs, and progress.
• Deliver elastic compute across clouds and regions; optimize costs as demand grows.
