Job summary

Monterey Bay Aquarium is seeking a Sr. Director of People & Culture to lead compliance, labor relations, talent acquisition, and People Analytics. You will drive strategy, establish annual goals and budgets, and mentor a cross-functional team to deliver equitable, legally compliant HR programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• 10+ years senior leadership across multiple P&C disciplines.
• Ability to lead change and manage conflict.
• Technical knowledge of multiple P&C functional areas.
• Strong commitment to developing team members.
• Experience delivering equitable P&C practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the compliance, service-delivery, and data infrastructure backbone of the People & Culture function, including Employee & Labor Relations, People Analytics, Talent Acquisition, and the Volunteer & Intern programs.
• Oversee employee and labor relations casework, workplace investigations, grievance handling, and performance/conduct matters, ensuring legally sound resolution.
• Provide leadership to the People Operations team, coach, mentor, and manage relations within the team.
• Define annual goals, workplans, and budgets for People Operations.
• Oversee workforce reporting and HRIS infrastructure in collaboration with Finance.
• Lead the organization’s recruiting strategy and hiring operations, ensuring equitable practices.
