Job summary

Monterey Bay Aquarium is seeking a senior leader to head People & Culture, unifying Employee & Labor Relations, People Analytics, Talent Acquisition, and Volunteer/Intern programs. You will shape strategy, governance, and risk management, with responsibility for budgets, goals, and cross-functional execution.

The role requires 10+ years of multi-discipline P&C leadership, strong change-management skills, and certification in CCP/CBP/SHRM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Minimum 10 years senior leadership experience across multiple P&C disciplines.
• CCP/CBP/SHRM certification is preferred.
• Ability to lead change and manage conflict.
• Strong organizational and project management skills within a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the compliance, service-delivery, and data infrastructure backbone of the People & Culture function.
• Oversee Employee & Labor Relations, People Analytics, Talent Acquisition, and Volunteer & Intern programs.
• Define annual goals, workplans, and budgets for People Operations; lead teams and manage risk and compliance.
• Advise management on employment law, policy development, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee workforce reporting and HRIS infrastructure; support budget forecasting and planning.
• Lead recruiting strategy and onboarding; manage volunteer/intern programs and compliance.
