Job summary

Monterey Bay Aquarium is seeking a dynamic executive to lead the People & Culture function, overseeing Employee & Labor Relations, People Analytics, Talent Acquisition, and Volunteer & Intern programs.

The role ensures equitable experiences for all employees and volunteers, grounds strategy in data, and partners with leadership on risk management and DEIA initiatives. Expect cross-functional leadership and strategic program design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus leadership experience in People & Culture.
• At least 10 years leading multiple P&C disciplines.
• Ability to lead change and manage conflict.
• Technical knowledge across P&C functions.
• Strong commitment to developing team members.
• Analytical skills and strategic interpretation.
• Experience negotiating and facilitating with stakeholders.
• Organizational, time and project management in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative problem solving and interaction with the Board.
• Certification CCP/CBP/SHRM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set vision for People Operations aligned with MBA strategy.
• Define annual goals, workplans and budgets for People Operations.
• Lead People Operations team and manage employee relations.
• Oversee employee and labor relations casework, investigations, and performance matters.
• Advise on employment law compliance, risk mitigation, and policies.
• Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and volunteer/intern programs.
• Advance DEIA strategies focusing on equitable hiring and pay.
