Job summary

Safran Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Irvine, CA, to lead mechanical design for pilot control and cockpit solutions across military and commercial aircraft programs. The role covers development, improvement, and sustainment through the full product lifecycle, with heavy cross-functional collaboration.

You will perform detailed design, analysis, and qualification activities, ensure manufacturability, and coordinate with teams to meet timing, cost, and performance goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Self-directed and capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, safety, and environmental requirements for aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and sustainment of mechanical systems for pilot control, actuation and cockpit solutions.
• Capture requirements, perform detailed design, analysis, component selection and troubleshooting.
• Support design for manufacturability reviews and manufacturing readiness.
• Interpret drawings per ASME Y14.5 and perform basic mechanical analysis (kinematics, tolerances, strength).
• Identify failure modes and drive design improvements.
• Ensure technical compliance with customer specs and SOW; control project scope, cost and schedule.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—design, manufacturing, quality, testing, suppliers, customers.
