Job summary

Exa, the AI-powered search engine company in San Francisco, is seeking a Head of Marketing Operations to scale our marketing engine. You will own the tech stack, data model, lifecycle, and analytics that turn marketing into a predictable pipeline.

This AI-first role requires building systems, deploying AI-powered workflows, and partnering with Marketing, Sales, and RevOps to drive cadence, accountability, and measurable impact.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in marketing operations at a high-growth B2B startup.
• Experience building marketing operations from scratch or replatforming, ideally at a developer-first or PLG company.
• Fluency in HubSpot or Marketo, Salesforce, and at least one BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Sigma, Hex).
• Proven AI builder mindset: shipped automations and internal tools using LLMs and workflow platforms (Clay, Zapier, Make, n8n).
• Track record owning attribution, lead scoring, routing, and data quality at scale.
• Experience running planning cadences, budget and vendor management alongside a marketing leader.
• Impeccable analytical and problem-solving skills; calm under pressure, strong opinions held loosely.

Responsibilities

• Own marketing tech stack end-to-end: selection, implementation, integration, and data flow standards with Salesforce.
• Design and deploy AI-powered workflows to automate high-frequency tasks and evangelize AI adoption across the GTM team.
• Own the full lifecycle from anonymous visitor through closed-won: lead scoring, MQL/PQL definitions, SLA, routing, enrichment, nurture, and handoff to sales.
• Own marketing analytics, attribution methodology, and dashboards for leadership.
• Drive the drumbeat of the marketing team: quarterly planning, goal tracking, weekly reviews, budget and vendor management.
• Oversee data hygiene, privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA, US state laws), email deliverability, and governance as we scale.
