Job summary

The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is seeking a Director of Library Technology responsible for managing library systems, coordinating with third‑party vendors, maintaining library PCs and printers, and collaborating with campus departments to support information access.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Academic Resources, the director leads the identification, development, and implementation of technology that advances the library’s mission, supervises contracted labor, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field; MSIS in library science negotiable.
• Experience operating information technology systems.
• Supervising contracted labor and coordinating with campus departments.

Responsibilities

• Production systems management for the library’s ILS and inventory system (OCLC Web Management System).
• Communication with staff, campus departments, library vendors, and contract services.
• Planning and research on MARC, Dublin Core, XML and metadata concepts.
• Assist the Archivist in maintaining the ILS and digital repositories.
• Implementation, deployment, and administration of library databases.
• Training staff in the use of library technology.
• Contribute to general library operations as a staff member.
• Liaison with the campus Computer Technology Department regarding online information access points and public service terminals.
• On call after regular hours for infrequent library technology issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
