Job summary

Lewis University is seeking a Head of Library Technology and Technical Services to manage the library’s technology initiatives and to lead technical services operations. The role reports to the Library Director and supports cataloging, metadata, and electronic resource management.

Ideal candidates will have an MLS/MLIS with extensive experience in academic libraries, strong technical skills, and the ability to drive library information systems projects and vendor collaborations.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS with five+ years managing an integrated library system.
• Experience in an academic library setting with growing responsibility and supervisory duties.
• Second master’s degree.
• Five years of academic library experience.
• Working knowledge of online databases, link resolver, finding tools and library resource discovery systems.
• Knowledge of cataloging practices and metadata formats (AACRII, RDA, MARC, Dublin Core).
• Proficiency in various computer operating systems and MS Office; ability to research emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cataloging of library materials and metadata for electronic and digital resources.
• Oversee original cataloging and supervise technical services operations.
• Administer and implement library software applications and staff hardware maintenance.
• Serve as liaison to IT and external vendors; manage integrated library system updates.
• Administer digital collection initiatives and university archives/digital repositories.
• Analyze online library resource statistics and participate in policy development.
