Job summary

Phillips Theological Seminary seeks a Dean of the Library and Research Services to provide strategic direction for library services, collections, and scholarly support. You will lead policy, budgeting, and personnel decisions, coordinating with academic leadership and IT to advance information literacy and research support across the seminary community.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
• Two years post-MLIS/MLS leadership experience in an academic library.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituencies.
• Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with internal and external
• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting and planning.
• Understand the role of the academic library in support for learning, teaching, and research.

Responsibilities

• Directs library policies and mission-related priorities in line with institutional goals.
• Represents the library at Phillips events and coordinates communications with seminary departments.
• Oversees library budget development and manages resources with senior administration.
• Leads staff development, performance reviews, and succession planning.
• Coordinates with OSU Library Consortium and OCALD for services and access.
• Maintains access to electronic resources and ensures license compliance.
• Supervises and supports librarians and library assistants; ensures service excellence.
