Job summary

University of North Carolina Pembroke seeks a Director of Technical Services/Assistant Dean to provide strategic leadership for the Technical Services unit, including collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, systems, and electronic resources.

The role directly supervises librarians, technicians, student workers, and interns and partners with campus divisions to support teaching, learning and research needs.

Qualifications

• Five years academic library experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Experience with data analysis, report writing, outreach and promotion of resources.
• Experience with staff development, budget management and resource sharing.
• Knowledge of library systems and electronic resources is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Technical Services unit and oversee collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, systems, and electronic resources.
• Directly supervise librarians, technicians, student workers and interns.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, supervision, performance management and professional development.
• Develop annual acquisitions plan and monitor expenditures and budget activity.
• Maintain liaison relationships with academic divisions and participate in campus committees.
• Provide leadership in electronic resources management and contract negotiations.
• Contribute to accreditation efforts and data-driven reporting.
