Job summary

BillionToOne in Menlo Park, CA is seeking an Automation Service Engineering Manager to oversee automation within molecular diagnostics labs and production facilities onsite. You will manage a team of automation service engineers, ensuring reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across NGS workflows.

You will drive system maintenance, deployment, and process optimization, coordinating with operations, R&D and Quality Control while managing vendor relations and the automation budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation or related field (Master's preferred).
• Experience leading automation service engineers in diagnostics/manufacturing settings.
• 4+ years operating and troubleshooting high‑throughput lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor automation service engineers across multiple shifts.
• Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of automated systems.
• Design, install and integrate new automated systems with QA alignment.
• Optimize processes with operations, R&D and production teams.
• Manage vendor relations, contracts and supply chain for equipment.
• Oversee automation budget and equipment inventory.
• Ensure compliance with FDA/ISO standards and CLIA where applicable.
• Monitor KPIs and report performance to senior management.
