Job summary

W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company seeks an experienced Director of Estimating to lead the Yates Industrial Division in Birmingham, Alabama. The role focuses on directing estimating operations, bid prep, cost modeling, risk evaluation, and preconstruction strategy across core sectors.

You'll mentor a team of industrial estimators, standardize procedures, and maintain client relationships during preconstruction and proposals, utilizing Timberline and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 12–15+ years in industrial construction estimating and preconstruction.
• Minimum of 5 years in a managerial role overseeing multi-discipline teams.
• Proven track record in estimating and winning large projects ($10M–$250M+).
• Strong leadership and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Industrial Division estimating department across tenders and budgets.
• Establish standardized workflows, cost databases, and QA processes.
• Mentor estimators, cost engineers, and discipline specialists.
• Conduct peer reviews and bid reviews before submission.
• Oversee multi-disciplinary estimates (lump-sum, EPC, GMP, unit-price).
• Coordinate with operations, safety, BD, and exec management.
