Job summary

W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company in Birmingham, AL seeks an Estimator III to support the Yates Industrial Division on power generation projects. You will lead technical cost estimating for industrial facilities and utility-scale installations.

Responsibilities include detailed takeoffs, bid packaging, equipment pricing, subcontractor evaluation, and coordination with project managers using Timberline and related tools to ensure competitive, accurate bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction management with heavy industrial field experience.
• 7–10+ years of progressive cost estimating in heavy industrial construction, power generation focus.
• Experience estimating major power projects from $5M to $100M+ in value.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, detailed multi-discipline estimates (lump-sum, unit-price, EPC, GMP, conceptual).
• Quantify and price heavy mechanical equipment installation and balance-of-plant systems.
• Perform detailed takeoffs and cost analysis from drawings, P&IDs, and specs.
• Collaborate with project teams to align estimate assumptions with execution strategies.
