Doubletree by Hilton Newark Penn Station in Newark, NJ seeks a Director of Housekeeping. This department head role oversees the entire Housekeeping operation, directing the team and collaborating with Front Office to maintain brand standards, profitability and guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, union-management experience, and proven ability to manage budgets, staffing, and schedules while delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced downtown hotel.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and union experience
• Front Office and Housekeeping experience (Preferred)
• Strong union experience (Required)
• Strong knowledge and experience of managing a union work-force (Required)
• Must work weekends, holidays, and be flexible to work AM/PM shifts according to business demands
• Effective time management and strong leadership communication skills

Responsibilities

• Ensure total hotel cleanliness while applying all brand standards.
• Implement systems and processes for an efficiently run department and address guest complaints.
• Prepare forecasts and reports; assist in room budget development.
• Estimate staffing needs; optimize weekly schedules to balance productivity and service.
• Track guest satisfaction surveys and maximize response tracking usage.
• Organize and conduct regular department meetings.
• Manage inventories and par levels.
• Adhere to front office and housekeeping procedures including room status updates.
• Foster a positive, guest-focused team environment through development and motivation.
• Adjust staffing daily to maximize productivity without sacrificing service.
• Plan promotional or incentive programs for staff.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
