Job summary

MSD in Boston seeks a Principal Scientist (Director level) to lead the High Throughput Production and Automation Group within Discovery Biologics. You will supervise molecular biology and protein production teams, oversee automated workflows, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate therapeutics from discovery to clinic.

You will mentor scientists, manage external CROs, and champion an inclusive, high-performance culture while driving innovation in automated biologics production

Qualifications

• PhD/Master’s/Bachelor’s with extensive industry experience in biochemistry or related field.
• Demonstrated progression of responsibility in industrial setting.
• Experience in biologics discovery programs and automated platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and strategic leadership to a team of 4 FTEs.
• Lead automated high-throughput workflows and oversee production scalability.
• Manage outsourcing CROs for molecular biology and protein production.
• Collaborate across Discovery Biologics and multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Lead equipment fleet management for liquid handling platforms.
• Mentor and develop scientists to build a high-performing team.
• Stay updated on external advancements and promote the organization's reputation.
• Champion an inclusive culture.
