Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Director of Protein Engineering to lead design and optimization of therapeutic proteins across oncology, immunology, cardiovascular, and neuroscience. You will set engineering strategy, guide a team of scientists, and ensure alignment with biology, patient needs, and scalable manufacturing.

Lead format selection, affinity/specificity targets, and liability remediation from concept through development candidate nomination, in close collaboration with ML and discovery

Qualifications

• PhD/MS in protein engineering, biochemistry, or related field.
• 8+ years of academic/industry experience in protein engineering or related discipline.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing scientists and projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the protein engineering team and set scientific direction.
• Own discovery program engineering strategy from concept to development candidate nomination.
• Collaborate with ML and computational leaders to integrate design and screening.
• Align protein engineering plans with therapeutic area priorities and manufacturing feasibility.
• Partner with cross-functional biology and development teams to ensure viable downstream translation.
