Redwood Materials in San Francisco seeks a Senior Manager of Field Performance Engineering for our energy storage fleet. You will lead a multifunctional team spanning service, applications, field quality, and reliability engineering, driving fleet reliability and product improvements.

You will own fleet reporting, investigations, and the framework linking field operations to product engineering, with on-site responsibilities at 100 Hooper and travel to field sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with complex electromechanical, power electronics, or grid-scale energy systems
• 3+ years of people management
• Experience working safely on high-voltage AC and DC systems
• Working knowledge of BESS architecture including energy management, battery management, power conversion, protection, and thermal management
• Working knowledge of reliability engineering methods including failure rate modeling and FMEA
• Experience establishing structured escalation models between field operations, service engineering, and product engineering
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and to support off-hours escalations as required

Responsabilités

• Manages a multifunctional department of service, applications, field quality, and reliability engineers, including hiring and developing functional leads
• Accountable for the quality and reliability performance of the deployed BESS fleet
• Establishes fleet-level statistical reporting on product quality and reliability for engineering and leadership
• Directs technical investigations of field failures across electrical, thermal, controls, software, and power conversion systems
• Establishes escalation tiers, SLAs, and handoff criteria between operations and maintenance, service engineering, and product engineering
• Manages applications engineering support for customer system sizing, integration, and site-specific configuration
• Defines reliability and serviceability requirements for current and next-generation systems from field data
