Job summary

Berkner Group is assisting a Cambridge, MA‑based industrial technology company in recruiting a Vice President of Engineering. This on‑site role leads the engineering organization through scale‑up from lab to pilot, and ultimately to commercial deployment, coordinating with R&D, EPCs, and partners.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in engineering leadership within industrial tech, a strong background in process systems, and a proven ability to translate research into safe, reliable, large‑scale

Qualifications

• Must have 15+ years in engineering leadership within industrial tech or heavy industry.
• Experience scaling technolgy from pilot/demonstration to commercial deployment.
• Hands-on with design, construction, commissioning, startup, or operation of industrial facilities.
• Experience coordinating with EPC firms, contractors, suppliers, and fabricators.
• Ability to translate R&D into safe, reliable, and commercially viable engineered systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering org and cross‑functional teams to scale technologies from R&D to deployment.
• Partner with R&D to translate results into system requirements and designs.
• Oversee complex industrial systems integration across process equipment and controls.
• Own engineering execution across design, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning.
• Manage relationships with EPCs, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Establish fit-for-purpose engineering processes, risk management, and design verification.
• Ensure safety, performance, reliability, operability, and cost targets.
• Build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Define development priorities and deployment plans with leadership.
• Represent capabilities to customers, partners, and stakeholders.
