Job summary

PracticeMatch, an M3 company, is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead modernization efforts in the US. You’ll architect a phased migration from ColdFusion/SQL Server to TypeScript and Python in the cloud, while hands-on coding and reviewing the team’s work weekly.

You’ll collaborate with the CEO and Head of Product, driving delivery with AI-enabled tooling. You will oversee production engineering, establish CI/CD, testing, and observability, and ensure security and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including significant time in a hands-on technical role.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including direct management of engineering teams.
• Demonstrated experience leading legacy system modernization or technology platform migration efforts.
• Experience in a SaaS, data, or platform product environment; healthcare technology or physician recruiting industry experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the modernization with architecture and a phased path to it.
• Build the foundations that enable safe change: test automation, CI/CD, observability and cloud platform.
• Own production engineering, and lead the response and fix the root causes of important issues.
• Collaborate with Head of Product and CTO to align on strategy and roadmaps.
• Write significant code and review most of the work; guide the team through architectural decisions.
